Agreement on CCJA headquarters establishment in Algiers signed

The signing ceremony was attended by President of the Constitutional Council Mourad Medelci, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ramtane Lamamra  President of the CCJA Marie Madeleine Mborantsuo and Moussa LARABA Secretary general of CCJA.
“The CCJA is a suitable framework for the African constitutional courts, resulting from the decision of the AU Heads of State and Government and that Algeria has accepted, in the aftermath, to host the Conference headquarters, four years ago,” said Mborantsuo, also President of the Constitutional Court of Gabon, during the ceremony held at Foreign Ministry’s headquarters.

“Algeria has immediately provided suitable premises and qualified personnel,” she added.

In this regard, she explained that the signing of this agreement “will enable the organization to run legally in Algerian territory and its African leaders to come there regularly and be protected in the exercise of their function.”

The CCJA is composed of 34 African AU-member countries in addition to an observer which is Brazil.
