Appointment of a new president of the Algerian Constitutional Council

President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika named this Sunday, September 15, 2013 Mourad Medelci as President of the Constitutional Council, replacing Tayeb Belaiz appointed Minister of the Interior and Local Government ..
The Constitution states in Article 164 that “the President of the Republic shall appoint, for a single term of six (6) years, the President of the Constitutional Council. The Constitutional Council is composed of nine (9) members: three (3) appointed by the President with the President, two (2) elected by the National People’s Congress, two (2) elected by the Council of the Nation one (1) elected by the Supreme Court, and one (1) elected by the Council of State. ”

. Medelci held the position of Pursat of Foreign Affairs before nommination.
