The Constitutional Council of Chad to a new president
Former minister Mahamat Ahmat Choukou was elected President of the Constitutional Council of Chad by his peers gathered Thursday in the capital,
Mahamat Ahmat Choukou replaces the former prime minister and head of the diplomacy, Nagoum Yamassoum, to the post of which he was appointed on 26 January 2017 by a presidential decree.
Former leader of the National Independent Electoral Commission and senior official of the Chadian administration, the new President of the Constitutional Council was Minister of Livestock in the government headed by his predecessor in the early 2000.
Established in November 1998, the Constitutional Council is composed of nine members, including three judges and six jurists. With a nine-year term, it must be renewed every third year.
The Constitutional Council of Chad is member of the CCJA since 2012.
