Participation of the CCJA in the Congress of European Constitutional Courts

 

 

A delegation led by Mr. Mogoeng Mogoeng, Chief Justice of South Africa and acting President of the CCJA participated in the 17th Congress of European Constitutional Courts held from 28 to 30 June 2017 in Batumi – Georgia.

On this occasion, Mr. Mogoeng delivered a speech on behalf of the African constitutional courts in which he emphasized the critical role played by Constitutional Courts in the promoting constitutionalism, enforcing the observance of the rule of law, protection of human rights and the need to strengthen cooperation between the different regional groups active in the field of constitutional  justice.

On the side-lines of the Congress, Mr Mogoeng held several talks with his European counterparts and in particular with the President of the Asian Group
